We are campaigning for the re-opening of the northern part of the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway as part of the national network.

Our current plan is to rebuild the railway on its original route from Didcot to Newbury, with some deviations or tunnelling to avoid built-up areas. Between Newbury and Whitchurch, part of the route has been used for the A34 road but the railway would be rebuilt alongside the road. Near Whitchurch, a deviation would be made to follow an old proposed route to join up with the Basingstoke-Winchester line near Popham Tunnels. We have no plans to re-open Winchester Chesil Station, which is now a multi-storey car park. Trains would call at Micheldever and Winchester stations before continuing to Southampton.
